Independent governance in aesthetic medicine

Scholarly publishing

From a professional question to publication.

IAGS connects professional discussion on independent decision-making with the Journal of Independent Aesthetic Governance (JIAG) at Aesthetic Medicine Academic Press.

The Society develops topics and promotes discussion. The journal’s editors are responsible for peer review and publication decisions.

A journal for independent governance.

Topics include patient safety, conflicts of interest, decision quality, standards and institutional responsibility in aesthetic medicine.

Author guidelines, policies and submission information are available directly from the journal at AMA Press.

The manuscript pathway.

Research and analysis articles are intended to undergo review by at least two independent reviewers. For contributions connected to the Society, impartial editors select reviewers and make the decision.

1. Prepare

Disclose the article format, research question, methods or analytical approach, sources, limitations, authorship and conflicts of interest. Declare prior publications and preprints when submitting later.

2. Review and revise

The journal’s editors at AMA Press manage peer review and revision. Reviews, author responses, revisions and decisions are documented in its editorial system.

3. Publish and cite

The accepted final version receives a permanent AMA Press article page with abstract, full text, references, declarations and citation data. IAGS links to that original publication.

Status remains transparent.

Manuscripts, preprints, editorially checked articles and externally peer-reviewed journal articles have distinct statuses. A source check or technical test does not replace peer review.

A peer-reviewed label requires a completed, documented review process. Society recommendations or standards are not automatically peer-reviewed journal articles.

One clear version of record.

Scientific journal articles are published at AMA Press. The Society helps readers discover them and links to the authoritative version. It does not create a second journal publication of the same article.

DOIs, ISSNs and inclusion in scholarly indexes are stated only after confirmation. Google Scholar independently determines whether it indexes scholarly content.
