Independent governance in aesthetic medicine

For patients

Your decision. Separate interests. Clear responsibility.

You decide what change you want and whether to consider treatment. The IAGS model should help you recognise who advises, who treats, who reviews the outcome and what financial interests each holds.

Independent advice can identify open questions. It does not replace examination and informed consent with the treating physician.

Independent outcome review should clearly present your perspective alongside the medical assessment. It is neither a personal judgement of beauty nor automatic evidence of a treatment error.

Frequently asked questions

Can my independent adviser subsequently treat me?

Not under the IAGS model. They must also not profit from your treatment through commissions or affiliated providers.

Can my outcome reviewer sell me a revision afterwards?

No. Independent review and subsequent treatment business must remain separate.

Does an IAGS process guarantee a good outcome?

No. A process assessment does not establish an outcome guarantee or the general superiority of a physician or clinic.

Must I undergo treatment after receiving advice?

No. No treatment, deferral and further clarification remain distinct options. Advice should support your decision without requiring a treatment agreement.

Can I submit medical records through the Society?

The public website is not a portal for individual medical advice. Please do not submit findings or treatment photographs through it.
